Who are we?

Valorie Crooks
Professor, Department of Geography, Simon Fraser University.
She currently holds the Canada Research Chair in Health Service Geographies. I also hold a Scholar Award from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research. She is interested in the spatial and place-based dimensions of health and health care.

Jeremy Snyder
Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University.
Dr. Snyder’s research interests focus on our moral obligations toward vulnerable populations. He is currently engaged in writing projects concerning ethical obligations in the areas of health worker migration, price gouging in the provision of medical services, exploitation in pharmaceutical testing, and markets in human organs.

Thelma Narayan

Dr. Narayan is an epidemiologist and health policy analyst and activist. She is a member of the Measurement and Evidence Knowledge Network of the WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health.

Chantal Blouin
Associate director, Centre for Trade Policy and Law; Co-director of the Health and Foreign Policy Initiative, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University.
She has built a research program on the emerging issues related to international trade and health.  In her capacity as a consultant and advisor to the World Health Organisation, she has been leading an innovative research and capacity-building program on the impact of international trade agreements and economic integration on health systems and population health.
